Shadowrun Between Science Fiction and Fantasy

Shadowrun Between Science Fiction and Fantasy

$96.59

The pieces of the Shadowrun novel series present an interesting problem. Should they be categorized as Science Fiction or Fantasy novels? In order to answer this question we have to know exactly what these two genres represent. Unfortunately their definition is not at all unified. The only thing that we can say for sure is that they do exist. The countless books belonging to either of these genres are proof of that. And still, there is much confusion about them. This is why I feel the need to examine both genres and dispel some of the misunderstandings. In this book I will present the history, criticism and characteristics of Science Fiction and Fantasy. So the majority of my book is not about Shadowrun, but the two important genres. In the second part of my book I present and analyze the Shadowrun series through one of the novels, in order to locate it within the genres and further clarifying the differences between Science Fiction and Fantasy. I recommend this book not just for Shadowrun, Sf and Fantasy fans, but anyone who would like to know more about these genres. Wikipedia Recommender System

Wikipedia Recommender System

$114.71

Wikipedia is a well known online encyclopedia. It is based on a collaborative authoring principle. The Wikipedia attracts millions of visitors and they are allowed to read, edit or create new articles. Being open to everyone, makes Wikipedia the biggest online encyclopedia on the other hand, this statement leads to some negative features on the Wikipedia: erroneous facts and personal opinion propagation. Wikipedia Recommender System (WRS) is a collaborative filtering system that makes it easy to determine the quality of an article and allows users to submit the ratings and categories. Once the article classification was implemented into the WRS, the classification scheme started playing a vital role in determining the users expertise area. To evaluate people agreement on classification of the Wikipedia articles, the survey is arranged. It investigates four different information classification schemes: Citizendium, Dewey Decimal Classification, Open Directory Project Dmoz and toplevel Wikiportals. The purpose of survey is to determine the scheme which enables people to classify articles the most consistently with the highest agreement level on it. Wikipedia: Neutral Point of View

Wikipedia: Neutral Point of View

$70.1

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Neutral point of view (NPOV) is a fundamental Wikimedia principle and a cornerstone of Wikipedia. All Wikipedia articles must be written from a neutral point of view, representing fairly, proportionately, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources. This is nonnegotiable and expected of all articles and all editors. Neutral point of view is one of Wikipedias three core content policies, along with Verifiability and No original research. Jointly, these policies determine the type and quality of material that is acceptable in Wikipedia articles. They should not be interpreted in isolation from one another, and editors should therefore familiarize themselves with all three. The principles upon which these policies are based cannot be superseded by other policies or guidelines, or by editors consensus. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Analyzing the Japanese Wikipedia

Analyzing the Japanese Wikipedia

$97.19

The Internet based encyclopedia Wikipedia is a potentially very useful source of information but intuitively it is difficult to have confidence in the quality of an encyclopedia that anyone can modify. For an encyclopedia, one aspect of correctness is the writing style and especially for Wikipedia an inconsistent writing style would give a bad impression. If errors that can be detected by any native speaker of a language go uncorrected, how likely is it that errors that only a subject expert can spot will be corrected? Japanese is a language where honorifics processes are very explicit, involving different forms between which language users in some cases need to choose every time a sentence is uttered or written. Some forms are sufficiently easy to identify in a sentence for it to be feasible to perform this operation with a computer. By using this approach on the Japanese Wikipedia it is possible to determine whether the writing style of articles is consistent and correct. This book describes a project that undertook this task for all the Japanese encyclopedia articles.
